Santaluz is a 24-hour guard-gated master-planned community in San Diego’s 92127 zip code, bordered by Rancho Santa Fe and Fairbanks Ranch to the west and the Black Mountain open-space preserve to the northeast. The main gate sits east of the intersection of San Dieguito Road and Camino Del Sur, with residential streets winding throughout the community’s 3,800 acres, including Santaluz Village Green, Run of the Knolls, Doug Hill, Entrada de Luz, Caminito Santaluz Norte, Northern Lights, Encendido, and Santaluz Inlet. The community was originally master-planned by Taylor Woodrow Homes (now Taylor Morrison) and DMB Associates beginning in the late 1990s, with most homes built starting in 2002–2003. The community includes approximately 850 homes in total, ranging from attached casita-style residences to sprawling custom estates, in Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, Tuscan, and traditional early-California architectural styles. Homes generally range from roughly 2,100-14,000+ square feet, with the community’s largest custom estates reported as large as 23,000 square feet, and typically offer 2-7+ bedrooms; lot sizes span from around 0.15-3+ acres.
Residents of Santaluz have access to an 18-hole Rees Jones championship golf course and The Santaluz Club, along with the Hacienda Santaluz, a roughly 19,000-square-foot community center offering a resort-style pool with a children’s splash area and 25-meter lap lanes, a fitness center, spa services, and tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts. The 11-acre Village Green hosts community events, and the community offers miles of private hiking and biking trails winding through more than 1,000 acres of preserved open space. Everyday shopping and dining are just minutes away at Del Sur Town Center and a variety of restaurants and specialty shops, with additional options nearby in Rancho Bernardo and Carmel Valley. Santaluz connects to Highway 56 and I-15 via Camino Del Sur, putting the beaches of Del Mar about 10-15 minute drive away. The community is served by the Poway Unified School District, with area schools including Design 39 Campus, Willow Grove Elementary, Black Mountain Middle School, and Del Norte High School.
Santaluz is governed by a master homeowners association (phone number: 858-759-3100) with dues around $600-$650 per month, it covers common-area landscaping and maintenance and the community’s 24-hour guard-gated security. Homes in Santaluz span from around $2.9M for smaller casita and Village Green-style homes to $11.9M and above for the community’s largest custom estates.
