Rancho Del Lago is a 24-hour guard-gated community of 43 luxury estate homes in the northeastern part of Rancho Santa Fe, built on the site of the former Johnston Ranch, where historic Valencia orange groves sits on roughly 185-acre neighborhood. The community sits east of The Groves, south of The Bridges, and west of Rancho La Cima and Via Del Charro, near El Camino Del Norte, with homes found along streets such as Calle Reina and Lago Vista. Development began in the late 1980s and continued through the 1990s and 2000s, with each residence built by its own custom or semi-custom builder from Tuscan and Mediterranean to East Coast traditional home exteriors. Homes in Rancho Del Lago range from approximately 5,500-15,000 square feet with 4-9 bedrooms, situated on generously sized lots that average around 4 acres with some as large as 5.5 acres.
Though tucked into a quiet, semi-rural setting, Rancho Del Lago is just a short drive from the boutiques, restaurants, and cafés of the Rancho Santa Fe Village, as well as the historic Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Families in Rancho Del Lago are served by the highly regarded Rancho Santa Fe School District (R. Roger Rowe Elementary and R. Roger Rowe Middle School) and the San Dieguito Union High School District, which includes Torrey Pines High School as well as Canyon Crest Academy and San Dieguito High School Academy.
Rancho Del Lago is governed by a homeowners association that maintains the guard-gated entrance and common areas; monthly HOA dues is around $750–$800. Home prices in Rancho Del Lago have ranged from about $5M-$15M; some homes are priced as high as $17M.
