Rancho Santa Fe Groves, known locally as “The Groves”, is a gated community of 44 custom home sites on Via Ascenso and Via Naranjal, built on a 101-acre former Valencia orange grove in the 92067 zip code. The community was developed by William Strong beginning in the 1980s, with most homes completed in the early 1990s. It sits north of The Covenant, south of The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, west of Rancho Del Lago, and east of Olivenhain. Because every residence was custom-built rather than constructed from a builder’s standard plans, each home is architecturally unique, though most draw on California Ranch or Spanish/Mediterranean design influences with tile roofs, stucco exteriors, and courtyards. Homes range from 3,389-7,779 square feet with 3 to 7 bedrooms, and lot sizes typically run from about 1-2.9 acres, some have been reported as large as 6 acres.
